Dr. David Murphy

Good Afternoon,  this is my Friday Update for May 14, 2021. As you might imagine, we are monitoring changes at the state and federal level for indications of what we might be able to expect as we plan for the reopening of our schools next fall. Once that information is finalized, we will reexamine our current protocols to see if any modifications or changes can be made. Please know that we will communicate that information to you as soon as any decisions are made.

I wanted to provide a quick reminder about our upcoming COVID vaccine clinic that will be taking place at Telstar for students 12 and above over the coming weeks. The first clinic is scheduled for May 25 and the second dose will be administered on June 15. It is important to remember that both doses are needed to ensure full protection. For more information or if you have any questions about this opportunity, please feel free to contact Chris Cole at 824-2136 x1310. Please note that permission forms must be submitted to the school nurse’s office by May 19th in order for students to participate, since we will need to order the specific number of vaccines that will be administered. These permission forms can be found on our website. While you are there, you will also notice that our new website is starting to take shape. We will be continuing to work on that in the weeks to come - so stay tuned!

I am pleased to inform you that we will be moving back to holding an in-person, on-site graduation ceremony for the Class of 2021 this year. The event will be held in the gymnasium on Friday, June 11 at 7:00 pm. Additional details will be made available once any new guidance for schools is finalized. The event will also be televised live by WHAT TV. A complete schedule of graduation-related events being held during the week of Monday, June 7 will be posted to the district website once these final determinations have been made. It should be noted our 8th grade night will also be held in the gymnasium at 5:30 on June 15th. That will be similar in design to the high school graduation. That event will also be televised live.

Best wishes for a terrific weekend!
